Neerozhukkil Vaidyasala:Pizhichil (Oil Bath Therapy)

Pizhichil, known as Ayurveda’s royal oil bath therapy, seamlessly combines the benefits of Snehana (oleation) and Swedana (sudation). Originating from the classical therapeutic traditions of Kerala, Pizhichil is designed to de-stress the mind, rejuvenate the body, and balance Vata and Pitta Doshas. During the session, streams of warm medicated oil are rhythmically poured over the body while the therapists gently massage in synchronized movements. The continuous flow of oil nourishes the Dhatus (tissues), supports circulation, encourages toxin release, and promotes Ojas (vital strength). Traditionally regarded as a rejuvenating and restorative therapy, Pizhichil is deeply beneficial for those seeking nervous system support, joint mobility, and mental calm.

How It Works

01

Your Vaidya begins with a short consultation to assess your Prakriti–Vikriti (body constitution and current imbalance) to determine oil type and session intensity.

02

Medicated oils such as Dhanwantharam Tailam, Sahasra Tailam, or Ksheerabala Tailam are gently warmed by the therapy team.

03

Two therapists rhythmically pour warm oil over the entire body while massaging with continuous, synchronized strokes.

04

The combination of heat and gentle pressure supports circulation, sweating, and the release of Ama (toxins), leaving the body relaxed and revitalized.

FAQs

Find answers to common questions about our Ayurvedic treatments, consultation process, and services.

What are the primary benefits of Pizhichil?

Pizhichil brings deep rejuvenation to both the body and mind through warmth, oil and touch. It stimulates circulation, strengthens muscles and joints, comfort pain, and induces a lasting state of deep relaxation by calming an aggravated Vata and Pitta Dosha.

Two therapists will slowly be pouring flowing streams of warm medicated oil over your body while doing strokes in a synchronized motion. This process continues for 45–60 minutes, and ensures that the skin and tissues absorb the healing oils entirely once completed.

A course of 7-14 sessions is typically recommended for therapeutic effects, depending on the health condition. Daily sessions ensure lasting vitality, flexibility improvement, and emotional coolness.

Yes. Pizhichil is extremely beneficial for paralysis, sciatica, osteoarthritis, spondylitis, and neuromuscular conditions. The therapy based on pressure will strengthen the nerves, and muscles, improve circulation and relieve stiffness by deep oleation.
